Arrested? Five rights to remember
You have the right to be told why you are being arrested, in a language you understand.
You have the right to remain silent and to speak to a lawyer of your choice.
If you are not released, you must be brought before a court within 48 hours.
You should be treated with dignity. Torture and degrading treatment are prohibited.
Stay calm, do not resist, and write down names and badge numbers when you can.
